Guest tomdbomb61 Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I will probably get slated for asking for this, but I have been reading around for the past 2 weeks, and seem quite interested in the S710. I need a phone I can use for work, receiving emails etc, but also a phone I can use when out, to take photos , use a basic handset. I have noticed that the P990i has had quite a few software updates, and from what I hear, is now a pretty slick machine. Out of the 2 which one is going to serve me best?

Out of the 2 which one is going to serve me best? kidding m8 !!!! the 990i is a right pile. even if I am naturally a WM fan, although I have also had, and liked, a nokia s60v3 (e61). The 990i has been beset with software and hardware problems, many still outstanding. The keyboard is terrible, its big and the battery lasts an hour. The only advantage is 3G, but if you are on an EDGE network you won't notice the difference UIQ3 has been a disaster for Sony. I tried to use a w950i (wanna buy it from me ?). Oversimplified, essential options buried in piles of menu and as slow as a sloth. If you want Symbian buy a nokia. If you want functionality and a software catalogue to die for, buy WM. end of story. Guest chucky.egg Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I'd agree. I used to have Symbian UIQ phones, and loved them, but the P990 by all accounts wasn't their finest hour. Symbian Series 60 has a very good software library, equal to WM I would think, but I too would suggest that you get the S710 based on your requirements.
Guest Eldar2k Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Just switched from Nokia N73 to VOX. I tell you, never get a Symbian phone, everytime I get it, I feel dissapointed..... It is slow, no wi/fi, no user friendly, not good programs and is good smartphone more likely for begginers.... Get VOX. It is awesome.
Guest tomdbomb61 Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I am certainly swinging towards a Vox. I need a 2nd phone for work, I dont know whether to take out a new contract with Orange and get an E650 for £30 a month which includes free broadband. At the moment I am paying £20 a month just for a standalone BB package. I do hear rather rubbish reviews of Orange BB though....... Or just buy a Vox for around £250........
Guest bchenoweth Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I have a P990i sitting right next to me right now and they are garbage do not buy one! Or wait I will sell you this one.

By the Vox - get a T-Mob contract so you can have data and flog the phone you get with your T-Mob contract. Don't go Orange!!!! Just my 2d's worth
Guest S710demon Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Or get the Vox with a T-mob contract. I did through an independent retailer.
Guest toon9 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 ....... I do hear rather rubbish reviews of Orange BB though....... That's an understatement mate! Orange broadband is an absolute pile!! Their email server in particular is absolute garbage. Their broadband service reflects their mobile cs of a year or so ago - when lots jumped to T-Mobile cos it too was rubbish.
