Guest djfuego Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Hey people, I frequent the site just to get an update on goings on but in 3 months my contract is due for renewal and i've been offered a 'free' upgrade from an M500 to SPV 650. 'How about the M700' I asked the sales bloke.. "£99" he said.. I know that this device is capable of being upgraded to WM6 PPC but is it worth it? I saw the O2 flame and thought.. Damn that's going to be expensinve!! I wan't a PPC device similar to the M500 with a processor to match, wifi and if possible GPS. Can someone give some advice for this upgrade? I don't want a ppc device with a processor slower than my current phone, Don't really want the slide out keybord, DO want the touch screen. I also read the M700 has a flash on the camera and is also 3G the 650 is not 3G enabled...I Just need a second oppinion before I decide on the M700.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Sounds like the M700 is just what you want coming from the M500, so it probably is worth the £99, it's a great device! P

Guest Ovie Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Thanks Paul, I apreciate that, have there been any teething problems when upgrading the rom to from 5 to 6? I've got an SPV M700, running WM6 just fine
Guest djfuego Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I've got an SPV M700, running WM6 just fine  I've seend the XDA dev forums on the WM6 update. what are to Pros and Cons obviously the warranty on the phone is void. I've got the phone now. It's a great piece of kit, looks similar to my M500 shame that the port cover at the bottom has been removed as I thought this was a great idea. I had to edit the reg to allow B and G wifi. This phone is a war drivers best friend.
Guest Confucious Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Why did you stay with Orange? if you don't mind me asking. Without unlimited data these devices are severely hampered IMHO and I can't afford O's data!

Without unlimited data these devices are severely hampered IMHO and I can't afford O's data!Yeh the data rates do suk balls . What's the difference between gprs/3g, "It's faster" the response was... same price for 3g as gprs data Go figure.... the more data you use/ meg the less it costs, Yeah it pays to surf for longer periods.. REALLY?!!! sounds like BS to me  Mobile phone companies have to make their money some how. If it wasn't on data it's got to be put somewhere else. I would have prefered charging stupid rates for Technical support. But the phone is still great. I still would like to know if everything still works if you put WM6 on it
