Guest adamlabonte Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Hi all, I just received a T-Mobile MDA that I bought off eBay. Everything works great, except for the fact that the Wi-Fi won't turn on. In comm manager, I click the WLAN button, it does the "thinking" wheel icon in the middle of the screen, then goes back to how it was with the "X" in the button. Am I doing something wrong? these are the steps I took to turn the Wi-Fi on with my SDA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam

Guest mandt Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 As you've only just got it, you've presumably not installed to much on it to lose? Hard reset it, (Start>Settings>System tab>Clear Storage) If you still got no Wi-Fi get your money back

Guest Rob Blakemore Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I've got the same problem. Only that mine has only just started to go wrong. I have been using the device seven months, so have loads of software that I don't want to lose. Does anyone have any suggested fix for this problem please? Thanks. Rob
Guest xeno1 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I had a version of WM6 that did the same thing, but if you hit the wifi button a second time right after it didn't turn on the first time it would turn on.
Guest Rob Blakemore Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Nope - not that easy to solve unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion. Other theories gratefully received. The wifi device was working fine for 7 months, but its not been coming on for about 2 weeks now. Don't want to do a hard reset if someone can suggest anything. Thanks, Rob
Guest greenturtle Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Have you tried changing the preload wifi tweak in the registry? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms In that folder, there will be a D-word value registry key, called "HTCPreloadWifi". You will need to edit this value. If it's not there, you will need to create it. You will need to set it to 1. (If you want to disable preloading WIFi, set it to 0 again)
Guest Rob Blakemore Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Thank you very much for the suggestion. However, I still have the same problem unfortunately. Further suggestions are grattefully received. Thanks again for helping, Rob
Guest skoledin Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Unfortunately, I don't have a solution, but I am also seeing the same problem. Occasionally, I can get the WiFi radio to turn on, but haven't been able to figure out any pattern. Typically, however, attempting to turn on via connection mgr just results in spinning wheel, then approx 10seconds later it just reverts to being marked with an X, no errors, explanations, warnings, etc. Using WM6, everything else seems to work just fine. Thanks to anyone with any suggestions. -Stephan
