Copying the TT5 files via Activesync to your storage card does not work.

You need to put the storage card into a card reader on the PC, then copy your TT software to the card.

See if that helps

you "NEED"??? Complete nonnsense. You can just connect via activesync. Then use windows explorer to copy files to your mobile device, works fine.

Here is the solution:

If tomtom hangs about selecting a voice create a folder at

\Storage\My Documents\TomTom\

Then create a file "CurrentMap.dat and store it in the above folder "TomTom".

That's all, no more hangs...

nexxexium:

I was just passing on some useful advice gained from a similar experience I had on another device.

Comments like that is totally unnecessary, and not what I would expect to see on a forum where people offer to help  .

I got that "Complete Nonsense" from the TomTom 5.2 Update instructions, which I had to follow on a previous device, as it failed via ActiveSync:-

http://www.tomtom.com/support/category.php...=1&FID=3571

In order to update the application on your mobile device, you must have a memory card reader/writer.

You cannot use Microsoft ActiveSync®, Sony Ericsson PC suite or the Nokia PC Suite to install this update.

We strongly recommend that you make a backup of your TomTom MOBILE memory card before you install the new application. The steps below for updating the application include a step for making a backup. So don't skip any of the steps below.

I had copied all the folders over from a (working) HTC Mteor and i had exactly the same problem.

Putting the storage card in a card reader and installing the 5.20 (ttmupd520.exe - http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ttmupd520.exe) update over the existing one did it for me.

And yes you have to do it via the card reader, there is no option to do it directly to the phone.

Good luck...

You dont need a cardreader. You can use ttmupdate520 to update a specific folder. So first copy tomtom 5 from phone to windows explorer directory. Then update and select this directory. Then copy folder back to phone.
