How can I check if I'm on EDGE coverage or not?

I'd like to check if I have EDGE Coverage, or if only GPRS. Is there any way to check it?

my Vox tells me if i'm in Edge coverage by having a big E on the top bar instead of the big G...

My M3100 does the same (big E when in edge signal) but it has only started to do it after i've updated the radio and gone over to WM6.

Never saw it just using the standard orange rom.

Mine displays an E with a standard Orange rom. I spoke to Orange and they told me that there isnt a wide coverage at the moment, only in large metroplitan areas. I got no E in London but I did get Edge coverage in a number of Service stations and very good Edge coverage in Weymouth . The difference in speed is astounding
