General Smartphone Advice Needed

Hi, just a general smartphone query here. I have an e-bay listing for a T-Mobile MDA Mail and currently have it listed as unopened and still sealed. As this is a new contract, do I need to open the box and register the sim and/or phone or can I keep it sealed? Any advice gratefully received

Try the SIM in another phone? If TMob let you register it theres no reason for you to need the original handset afaik, other than perhaps noting down the IMEI.
