Guest kame1986 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Hey guys. Please forgive me if this has been asked but is there a way to remove Windows Mobile 5 and install WM6 ??? Are there any benefits of doing this ???
Guest jimbouk Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Have a look on XDA-developers. Loads of WM6 roms to flash onto various WM5 devices. Basically, WM6 is an update to WM5. There are some speed and operation improvements, as well as support WPA2 etc.
Guest kame1986 Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 have been on that website and i so so so much want to change the rom to wm6 but im hearing just way too many bugs. ive heard all different termanology used to do this: Rom, OS, Flash "I wanna change the rom to wm6" "im going to change my phones os to wm6" "you can reflash ur phone to wm6" Which is the correct term ???
Guest jimbouk Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 The ROM is the nickname for the firmware - ie the Operating system that is loaded into the devices Read Only Memory. All of those are basically correct. There are four elements to the phones operating system - there is the bootloader (this is sort of like the bios on a pc); the OS (the actual software that tells the device what to do); the radio rom (the software that tells the devices radio chips etc what to do) and the extended rom (a specific area of storage that is usually used for the operators customisations (such as the Orange homescreen). Most of the WM6 "roms" over there are OS only - and thus just change your phone's basic OS, without touching the radio rom. You can flash the OS in about five minutes simply following MrVanx's guides.
