Guest fraser Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Some of you will no doubt be aware of the "Automatic" profile and what it does. It sits in "Normal" most of the time, but if the calendar shows you as in a meeting, it switches to "Meeting". This is very cool. Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about selecting profiles based on the time of day? I work in an office, and for many years I've disliked it when people leave their mobiles on their desk which ring and ring and ring when they are not there. I wouldn't want to be a hypocrite now! I'd like to have something that could automatically have the profile set to "meeting" during the hours of e.g. 9 thru 5. Is this possible? I guess it probably is, all you would need to do is write a small app that monitors the time of day, and makes the correct call to switch the profile.
Guest samdb74 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 maybe set a recurring appointment Mon-Fri 9-5 in Outlook best i can think of
Guest xelar Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Have not an answer but a question, sorry. Phone switches nicely to 'Meeting' when in 'Automatic' mode, however, doesn't switch back to 'Normal' after the appointment is over. That's how it supposed to be, or is something not working the way it should? Thanks.
Guest Maverick Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Have not an answer but a question, sorry. Guest ormstont Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Just to add another problem to this otherwise cool feature - I doubt it's possible to fix it though. When you set the status of the appointment (busy, tentative, free etc.) the profile change isn't aware of it. So I can be free but it still sets my phone to silent...any way of changing this?
Guest chocobogo Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 i thought it was just me!! My phone goes into automatic mode fine but wont come out again!!! Pretty pointless!!
Guest Matt Kirby Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 My phone when set to automatic does return to "Normal" after "Meeting". Am I the only lucky person that this works for?
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted June 8, 2003 Report Posted June 8, 2003 My one switched back after a appointment. I've not been paying too much attention to it thought. Maybe it doesn't switch right away in case the meeting over runs. Check if the profile changes say 5mins after the end of the meeting. Just an idea.
Guest vivek Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 I had similar problem of not returning to 'normal' mode after being in 'meeting' mode. But it's working fine now. So it's not luck but something else interferring there. I don't know what! Annoying thing for me is the appointments in Outlook where i'm free but still profile shifts into 'meeting' mode. Any insight into tweaking settings about automatic profile will be appreciated. Thanks
Guest shadamehr Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 Bug documented in another thread (the compiled list of phone errors, in this board), that I have reported to Orange (so not holding my breath for a response). As per the message on the phone, "Automatic Profile will switch between Normal profile and Meeting profile, based on any entry for the current time appearing in the calendar, with a BUSY status" (or words to this effect - but specifically stating BUSY). Alas, the problem is, that depsite working ok yesterday, I now find that my phone will switch to Meeting Profile when in Automatic mode, for ANY appointment, even if I set the status of it as Tentative, Out of Office, or even FREE. It is only meant to switch to Meeting mode however, for appointments that are set as BUSY only. So clearly a bug with the phone.
Guest shadamehr Posted December 23, 2003 Report Posted December 23, 2003 After sending Orange an Email about my issue above, I got a text to my phone telling me to Ring them up about it. When I did, and pressed for the options the text message told me to, I got a really nice girl, who checked the notes, and said it had been closed off - user error! DOH! So when I explained the issue to her, she took plenty time to record it all down, and pass it back to the Technical Section who originally didn't have a clue! I'm stilling waiting to hear back now....
