USA T-Mobile GPRS Internet - Data plan required?

Device: SDA

I used to be able to use the Internet Explorer in my SDA to view any web pages I want (I am in the Chicago area). A few months ago, I found that my connection no longer works. I am no longer able to browse *any* web pages. The strange thing is that when I travel to Minneapolis, my connection is restored, but as soon as I touch back down in Chicago, it's gone.

A basic question is: Do I need to subscribe to the Data package from T-Mobile to be able to browse web sites? I would think so, but all over this forum I see postings for what GPRS settings should be, and I am assuming that some of the people posting aren't data subscribers... Or am I wrong?

If I don't need to be a data plan subscriber, can someone please guide me through the settings. There are a variety of settings that I see that date back to 2003 and before, and it would be nice to get settings that work in 2007.

Thanks very much.

You'll need to at least have the $5.99/mo t-zones on your account. To do that via their website though, you have to change your phone type to something like the motorola V3m or something, otherwise you won't even see the option for t-zones in the add service section.

If you only go with the $5.99/mo, you can go to any webpages, but you wont be able to:

1) stream music or TV (at least not with TCPMP, but media player still streams music...)

2) use google maps program, as it gets blobked my t-mobile's proxy

I'm in Minneapolis and I just have the t-zones. No way I can afford the $29.99/mo they want for the data plan...

Good luck,
