Battery life

Well after the fiasco of my ebay purchase of a E650 (thankfully got my money back), I'm now the owner of a S710 from mobilefun, and I'm now having battery issues.

The battery only lasts for less than a day, with no calls! I've got bluetooth and WiFi turned off and it can't seem to hold a charge. Is this normal?! What sort of times should I be looking at out of a charge? I keep the phone locked most of the day so the main backlight is off.

For the few days I had the E650 I only charged it once. This morning, when I had left the phone charging overnight, I noticed the light had gone off on the charger and the phone dead. Could this be the cause, a dodgy charger ruining the battery? I've tried charging it through usb and it still losses power very quickly, down to about 80% according to the batterylife plugin after 1 hour from being "fully" charged.

I don't really want to have to send another one of these phones back, but having a phone that only has enough power to last a few hours being switched on is stupid. I've got a new battery on order in the hopes that that resolves it.

Any other thoughts on what else could be causing this?

just spotted that, meant to say always off!

Seems to be holding its charge better after being charged from the usb

I have wi-fi switched on from when i get home to when i leave for work the next day (approx 12 hours) and do a little surfing and streaming and during the day i have a grps connection always open with flexmail picking up my emails every hour plus calls and texts and get a couple of days.

If you're getting more use from the usb it sounds like a charger issue. Always good to follow the standard cycling routine on a new battery. that is charge for 12 hours, allow to fully discharge, charge for another 12 and repeat 3 or 4 times. I know they tell you that Lith Ion batteries don't suffer the memory effect but they do to an extent.

Cheers

Definitely a battery issue. Ask for a refund or, at least, a battery replacement. In general, new batteries like this shouldn't lose their charge THIS much, but you may be just unlucky with your current one.

BTW, what about the signal strength? Is it weak there? Can you deactivate the phone unit for some hours to see whether the problem remains, or, whether it's caused by the weak signal? However, 20% charge loss is a LOT even with actively using the device as an EDGE modem in an area with weak signal level.

Signal strength is good around here. I completely discharged the battery last night, I turned on bluetooth, wifi and run a movie with media player until it died then charged it with my old I-mate jamin charger overnight, so far it seems to be holding and I'm getting to enjoy my brilliant phone.

Going to get in contact with the shop to get another vox charger.

perhaps your lcd screen and backlight are always on? that would definitely drain your battery

reading your 1st post again, seems something is wrong with either the charger or charger electronics in the phone or a faulty battery

when it's finished charging, the right led lights green
