Guest Marc Thewes Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 (edited) Problem description: I use an Apple Airport Extreme base station on my home network, which is set to give a 802.11b/g/n Wifi signal. My HTC S710 can connect to it if I set the base station to an open network, but as soon as I put in a security setting (any), it no longer does. I've tried all possible combinations of the settings (I think) so I start thinking it might have something to do with the security settings of the latest Airport Base Station. So: Has anyone on the forum been successful connecting? If so, I'd be grateful if they could publish their setup for both the Base Station and the HTC S710. Any other advice would if course be very welcome too. TIA Marc Edited June 17, 2007 by Marc Thewes
Guest samawil Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 I have a base station at home, and the settings are the same as you (bgn) and I can connect just fine. this might be silly, but try entering the password using another method, to make sure that the password is correct. Have you tried to set it so that the phone tells you "new network" and then you join? How about trying to set a new network connection? Hope you solve this... LS
Guest Marc Thewes Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 I think it has something to do with the security settings. Would you mint sharing with me the settings (WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc...) you use on the Airport Base Station and the ones you have put in on the phone? Guest haggisman Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I think it has something to do with the security settings. Would you mint sharing with me the settings (WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc...) you use on the Airport Base Station and the ones you have put in on the phone? Did you guys get this sorted; still beEn unable to sort it with mine and think I've tried all the available security options. Using WPA2. Any heads up on correct setting much appreciated, must be doing something very simple wrong. H
Guest sad_story Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 I don't know. I used to considermyself fairly technically savy till I switched over to all Apple/Mac stuff (hey, it was free!). I am having the exact same issues. I think the problem lies within the Vox side of things in terms of matching the proper WPA/WEP stuff, and the proper length HEX password. I have been at it off and on 4 2 days now...
Guest sad_story Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 (edited) Solution 1: On the Extreme: Radio Mode: 802.11n Channel: 1 Wireless Security: WEP Wireless Password: (thirteen letters/numbers) <--- I kept letters between a-f and numbers (1-4) On s710 (Vox) Network Type: Internet (or Home/Private works too) <<>> Authentication: Open Data Encyrption: WEP (box) Key is automatically provided <---not checked Key Index: 1 <<>> (box) Use IEEE 802.1x networks access control <-----Not Checked It got connected !!!!!! Yay ... Gonna play a little more to see of I can get it to work WPA/WPA2 mode Edited July 8, 2007 by sad_story
Guest paholman Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I've got a strange problem at the "In-Law's" house. Their PC is connected directly to the router via network cable. (Sky Netgear router) My VOX connects to the Wireless fine after entering the WEP key. (Which all came pre-setup). The key is supplied on a credit card sized piece of card. The problem is, I have no network connection thru it. I can't check mail or surf via IE as it fails to obtain a network connection. I've also had similar issues at work with the Public Wifi connections in the area. The wireless connection is successful, but no network connection at all. My VOX works fine at home wireless, allbeit a crap signal strength downstair (router is upstairs) Any ideas anyone?
