Guest HelloDave Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 Use smtp.orange.net as your outgoing server - ntl's will only work if you access it over their network (it's a spam protection measure).
Guest terminater2_uk Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 ok i'm getting the same problem, but i'm using both orange settings for ingoing and outgoing. can receive but not send. i'm on o2 btw is that why?
Guest Emad Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 yep, you need to rummage around the o2 website for their smtp server.
Guest v1nn1e Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 terminator: who is your provider for the email, orange.net? ntlworld.com? doesn't matter what network your on, as long as you got a log in name and password with your isp you can check your mail no matter what network sim is on your phone. Also what incoming/outgoing server is your phone set to.
Guest Emad Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 terminator can't send because you can't access the orange smtp server from o2. SMTP servers generally rely on the connection being through that particular isp, as this makes it easier to track abuse..
Guest terminater2_uk Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 k thanks i'll dig around the o2 site
Guest terminater2_uk Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 smtp.o2.co.uk - works fine now
