Screen orientation change app.

Hi All,

I've just upgraded to a M3100 from a M2000. Apart from the usual stuff I use it mostly for TomTom. The smaller screen means that I prefer to run TomTom in landscape mode but I find it a real pain to need to do the Start > Settings > System > Screen > etc, etc.

Is there a utility out there that puts an icon on the Today screen that will toggle the orientation with a single tap? I'm really struggling to find one.

Many thanks.

No need for a seperate app - just map a hardware key to the option in the buttons menu. I personally always use the voice dial one

Cheers,

Yep - easy peasy  Just go to Start --> Settings --> Buttons :P

It will only let you map certain ones but, it works :D

Thanks for the replies and that is what I used to do with my M2000 (I used the IE button 'cos browsing was so slow and page layout such a nightmare I rarely did it).

Thing is though browsing on the M3100 is so much improved that I'm always dipping in so I'm reluctant to remap the IE button and I seem to use all the rest equally too apart from the Voice Dial button. However the Voice Dial button is masked by my car cradle so if I don't set it all up before I start my journey I'd surely end up in the nearest tree if I needed to start TomTom while on the move.

If only PPCProfiles development had continued then the Car profile would likely have had the option of screen rotation added by now

Don't forget if you're a plus member you can get a copy of Vito Button Mapper for free. This will let you map the soft keys as well as the hard keys and to other applications etc. Very cool indeed

What OS are you running on your phone?

I'm running the original one supplied with the SPV - and yes it's PANTS! It is constantly hanging while navigating the TomTom menus(cleared by starting and stopping the phone app.) and on a couple of journeys last week the voice kept cutting out part way through each announcement. As soon as TomTom learn't I was running a M3100 they refused to talk to me anymore telling me to come back when I'd got a 'compatible' phone....and I thought that a WM5 phone was a WM5 phone was a WM5 phone.

I've got to get a replacement M3100 from Orange this coming weekend 'cos my backlight has died on my current one and as soon as I get it I'm going to try the new SPV ROM from the Orange Business website. Does anyone know if this is any better?

I've read that the new Black Shadow ROM works well with TomTom but I'm reluctant to go for a 3rd party ROM at this time and I'm not sure I like the look of the Black Shadow....shades of grey takes me back to my long since forgotten days of my Nokia 3110.

Any help on that front too would be great!

Many thanks

Dave
