Guest Butler Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 I just got TomTom 5 for my S710 and about to put it on my phone. How ever I noticed it use GPRS so does this mean to use the TomTom and find my position etc it charges me for using my GPRS??
Guest James Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 I believe it uses the GPRS connection for the Trafic Updates etc... not to fix your location.
Guest Butler Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 So you have not been charged to use the TomTom on your mobile, I am just asking incase I get billed at the end of the month for it.
Guest conan_troutman Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Tomtom has no subscription packages at all...you do need a GPS unit to go with the TOMTOM to get the GPS fix (conect it to your phone via BT) you can as an option choose to get traffic updates or weather as and when you need them and will be charged for the privelage but thats to be expected and its your service provider who charges you not TomTom. I do not have a data conection provided by my sevice provide (O2-UK Pay and Go) byut I use TomTom every day nearly at no cost at all ( I get my weather and trafic upfdate before i leave by patching it in throuhg my PC)
Guest magualla Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 hello all, Silly question, but just want to make sure as I intend to buy this phone: If I connect the phone with the gps receiver via bluetooth will I be able to use at the same time my bluetooth handsfree? Or will i have to disconnect the gps receiver in order to make/accept a call? A salesman told me that there are some gps receiver that connect through wi-fi with the phone which is actually better than the bluetooth connection. is this true and do you know any wi-fi gps receivers on the market?
Guest conan_troutman Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 both BT devices can be used at the same time with some additional software (bluetooth audio routers) I use them to connect to my BT carkit and my BT GPS however using the car kits data connections does stop my GPS from conecting to my device which is why you need the router. as for wifi conectable GPS, never seen nor heard of one before, but thta does not mean they do not exist
