Guest Butler Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 I have some smartphone software but it is in .exe format and my phone says it is an invalid format. Is there any way I can convert it into a .CAB file so it will install?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Hi. :) Kindly check this post regarding SFX and CAB (post #4) http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=254044
Guest nexxexium Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Or maybe you just have to connect your smartphone to your pc and connect with activesync. Hereafter start the exe from your pc not your phone.
Guest Bunecarera Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 That's right. For a .CAB file: put it on your device and start it from your device. For a .exe file: Connect your phone with your pc through activesync and install it from your PC.
Guest kevinsephiroth Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 Or an EXE could be the executable , to be launch directly from the phone, like emulators.
Guest Butler Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 When i sync my phone with the PC and put the .exe file on the phone it still doesnt allow me to install it.
Guest paholman Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 (edited) When i sync my phone with the PC and put the .exe file on the phone it still doesnt allow me to install it. What happens when you run the .exe file from your PC? Edited June 25, 2007 by paholman
Guest Butler Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 What happens when you run the .exe file from your PC? If I save it to my desktop I can run it but how can I install it to my phone from there?
Guest Bunecarera Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 through Activesync. Just give it a go. It'll work...
Guest Butler Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 through Activesync. Just give it a go. It'll work... Ah it is working now, I guess the sync will only allow compatible files to be installed. When it comes to the on screen instructions it says file not allowed :) Do you know any file encryption freeware that will work with the s710?

Guest Disco Stu Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 To unlock your phone, go here : http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/
Guest conan_troutman Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 :) and now its happy again.... :P what do you do if you see a spaceman? park in it dude
Guest kevinsephiroth Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 No it is not application unlocked, how would I do this? Its a file encryption software. You wear your subtitle like a charm 'newbie' :P Search a little before asking those simple questions.... A .EXE is an executable either to be launch on the phone (Doom, GNUBoy... ) OR to be exectuted on the Desktop PC. First you need your device to be activesync-ed , then you double clic on the EXE. Then , it will decompress the softwares and install them on the phone on the sub folders .... and on the start menu. ... It's exactly the same with CAB files, but CAB are to be executed on the phone.... As one said, that's really sad. :)
