Media Player through the car kit

Does anyone know if it is possible to use media player on a c500 through a car kit that it linked to the car stereo. At the moment it only switches over to the stereo when I make or receive a call. Any ideas?

if the carkit is a blue tooth device then an audia router on the phone will be needed if its hard wired then on some it comes through all the time on others it does not.
