creating .dat files

Im trying to install tomtom5.2 on my e650. Ive got to the 'select a voice' stage but it hangs. Someone on a previous topic has said to create a .dat file of the GB maps folder in the tomtom folder. How do you do this. Plz break it down simply :)

open note pade and save it as

*.dat

its that simple *=name of file
