Guest Samuran Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Just seen this on theinquirer. One thing tho... on the radio today they have been slagging off the Iphone because it isnt 3G, yet on the above page...... Cheers Ben
Guest Samuran Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Hmmm a 3G version would make this a more viable option in my opinion. And would also make all our friends across the pond rather jealous!! haha Ben

And would also make all our friends across the pond rather jealous!! haha Ben sorry to be so abrupt but... I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of the bloody iPhone!! all of the proletariat gadget outlets have been proclaiming it as the revolutionary gadget of the decade - what an absolute crock!! does it actually do anythingnever seen before? i don't mean the user interface as that is simply clothes to my mind - i mean does it have a single function/application that has never been seen before? i wanted to scream at the radio today after hearing report after report of the drones QUEUEING to get their hands on one. I've never really been that angry about the apple/Jobs fanbase before but hearing the cheers at the launch with Steve Jobs proclaiming that the the iPod, Mobile Phone and Internet Access device are no longer three separate devices made me wonder what the hell i've been using for the last three years or so? notwithstanding the multitouch interface, can someone please tell me what i've missed? now i wish i felt better after that rant....but i dont cos all the hype has only just started!
Guest Disco Stu Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Nice rant, Samsonite :) Thing is, the problem is MS and the various networks. WinMo just doesn't get the same hype. It's not the media's fault it's because nobody has been doing enough to push the goodness we all enjoy. Gizmodo or Engadget or someone similar has blogged this better than I can right now. Also, outside of the smartphone (small s) / Apple fan-world I don't think it has particularly registered. I'm struggling to find people to have a 'Yeah but' conversation with. I know a lot of unhappy iPod owners who don't want another Apple product. I also know a lot of Nokia / Sony Erikson (sp) owners who just don't care,
Guest The Doctor Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of the bloody iPhone!! As much as I love my iMac G4 and the way it does stuff, I whole heartedly agree with you. The iPhone is no better (and in some cases worse) than the HTC Magician. No 3G, no GPS, no support for external apps, no options to customise it as extensively as WM. Its only real feature is the UI, which can be replicated on WM using HTC's TouchFLO or on other platforms using Java. And the internal HDD. And, lets face it, we've already seen these features (and a hell of alot more) on Smartphones and Pocket PCs. Phil

Phil yes thats all true. i thought it was funny people made a big deal over the maps the iphone had. any smartphone, pocket pc, and most nokia phones have maps. a lot of people thought the iphone had GPS just because of those maps. o and another thing, the iphone has internet. now isnt this just an amazing feature? i sure wish my windows phone had internet(sarcasm)

Phil Err not wanting to poo poo the Doktor, or anyone else that is bitching about the iphone.... but did u not even read the first post? I was just trying to point out that the bitching works, so now the iphone here will have 3G. Im not trying to say its a good device, im just trying to relay that info incase anyone didn't know. If all your going to do is winge and moan about apple, play with photo shop or upload a clever pc vs apple vid to utube... thats what everyone else does... Ben Edited June 30, 2007 by Samuran

Ben mate, i meant absolutely no offence to you at all. I heard read/heard various bits about a Voda and T-Mo tie up as the 3G rumours.. its just that yours was the first iPhone thread i came across whilst still seething about the whole circus of the launch, hence the venting!! :) :P as for consumer pressure to produce a 3g version -it would be necessary addition for euro version but makes me chuckle how our American cousins will have been truly duped - imagine, the cutting edge device being a scar already!! i dont really feel that angry at the Apple marketing machine - if anything they are amazing at their job - i'm more pi$$ed at the BBC et al for being sooo suckered by the hype. just a few nanoseconds of research by a quarteredwitted journo would unearth a much meatier story showing how much Apple are trying to hoodwink the masses! surely that's got as much 'news' value as a new mobile phone being released...? so apologies for hijacking the thread but not sorry for my rant - it had to get out sometime! ;)
