I'm using 2007, so scratch that theory!

P

What version of ActiveSync are you using? When you look at the AS Tools/Options is Notes there but greyed out or without a check box (not having WM6, I forget which it was on the G900)? Not being familiar with Outlook 2007, has Notes changed much from 2003? Have you noticed this on any other WM6 units?

Thanks.

hello Paul,

Could you suggest htc people if they could add the GPS tagging functionality like this one to the htc kaiser... i just love this function wherein you take the snap with the gps location already and really easy to upload to google earth flickr or locr... i hope they could add this little bonus software ... as my hw6915 picture quality is really poor .. compared to the kaiser.... but it does this function..

t

thanks,

dennis

could someone explain what gps tagging is? all i know is is has something to do with gps and taking pictures.

when you take a picture the EXIF information (which contains the shooting parameters (zoom, setting, white balance, type of objective...etc.) will save the GPS coordinate where you made the picture. When uploading it to somewhere (google map (panoramio), flickr...etc.) it will automaticly upload to the location on the map where the picture was taken. Some PDAs and digital camera has this function. Could be very usefull if you want to archive or sort the pictures by location automaticly, but i don't know if anykind of any 'camera-independent' program can handle this sorting method, but i'm sure there is.

If think if not the HTC but a programmer will do this function for HTC kaiser, so no worry.

o thats pretty cool. does tom-tom or any software out there do this? i think it would just all be in the software. not a special program just for the kaiser, but any device wit gps?

Sadly my direct line to HTC for product suggestions is somewhat limited :)

An app like this could be written in no time at all, just a wrapper around the camera API, so fear not :P

I've done a little research and I could create a location tagging camera app in 5 mins flat, so I wouldn't worry TOO much :P

The advantage of that approach too is how easily Panoramio upload etc. could be added :)

so far we have been seeing release dates for the "htc kaiser". but have we seen any for the "AT&T 8925"? it's confusing cause if you go on pdadb it says the release date for the htc kaiser is august, and people have been saying the 8925 is supposed to come out in august.

then when you look at the t-mobile Vario III on pdadb it says the release date is september. so the august release date sounds like it is the US version of the htc kaiser (AT&T 8925). does that sound right?

I understand 2nd week of September for T-Mo MDA III, the P4550 possibly slightly before, the AT&T 8925 coming mid September.

All rumours tho!

Paul,

Now that you've had the production h/w a few days, any comments on it or the current s/w? How close to final is the software in your opinion

Do you have an eta for the next update of the review?

As my SO would say I need another fix of tech porn :)

The software is very close IMHO, next update of the review will be when I receive the next software build, hopefully any day now! :)

is it true, that it is not possible to synchronize "notes" with outlook? this does even work with sony ericsson smartphones (p910, p990, m600 and so on) and they are obviously not from microsoft. i thought the sync tool from microsoft was much better the the tool from sony ericsson (which would not be to difficult).

i wanted the kaiser to be my first wm smartphone (after i always used sony ericsson), but i use notes a lot, so i could not live without them...
