Guest J273 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) Since Kaiser has TouchFLO interface, the only thing missing is a good finger virtual keyboard to reduce the need to slide out keyboard for just a short txt message. Today I found a good SIP keyboard which works like iphone keyboard. Basically, it will enlarge the letter and will only select the letter when you release it instead of pressing it. I downloaded and installed it on my HTC Apache. But to make it work on my machine, I have to use SIPChange to select it as default keyboard. It works as promised up to now. The keys are smaller than iphone keyboard, but that is what we should expect given the difference between 2.8 inches and 3.5 screen. You can freely download it at the website: http://pocketcm.com/keyboard.php A review (including Youtube video) is given at The Unwired at http://www.theunwired.net/?item=input-pock...-with-htc-touch With this, it would be a tough choice between Kaiser and Polaris !? Yeah ive been using this for a little while with the default layout.....Much prefer it over the standard keyboard input. edit: sorry after re reading it i was taliking about the 'happytapping keyboard' this still looks pretty good though....may have to give it a try. Guest Joe Ruszkiewicz Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Paul - now that you are at or near the final build, are you experiencing any lockups or other problems with the Kaiser? - Joe
Guest GordonTGopher Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 They've posted a data sheet for the Tytn II over at HTCClub (http://www.htcclub.net/ ) this isn't an official HTC site and it's not a high quality image so some details are hard to read, but either it's real or someone's spent a lot of time! Another step closer? Gordon

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 No weight on there, I want to know if these 160g claims are true ;) P
Guest J273 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 No weight on there, I want to know if these 160g claims are true ;) P What do you think to the weight Paul?...Thats the only thing putting me off does it feel overly to heavy?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I have no problem with it. It's no lightweight, but it's fine for me. P
Guest GordonTGopher Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Paul, How heavy is the battery, could it be 160 without, 192 with? Gordon

Guest NuShrike Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) They're back to listing USD $799.95 for Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.If you've been reading HoFo, you've probably already seen this for the USA guys: E-Gadget Depot: $795.00 USD + 2 accessories (screen protector, car charger) 2007/9/17. Better than Elite-Electronix, but shipping ~10 days later. However, don't know how honest EE is about their date-to-customer. Should be 192g with battery as Paul previously reported on his kitchen scale. Edited August 23, 2007 by NuShrike
Guest Joe Ruszkiewicz Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Perhaps 160g is without the battery?
Guest gregersdk Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) Since you all say, that we we know everything now... do we know if the GPS is AGPS or SiRF Star III? It dosen't say anywhere in the Kaiser, I'm sorry to say... Did spend some time looking for it... EDIT: Hmm.. the Data sheet says AGPS, but do we now for sure? Still hoping for SiRF Edited August 23, 2007 by gregersdk
Guest lozzd Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 EDIT: Hmm.. the Data sheet says AGPS, but do we now for sure? Still hoping for SiRF I think there is a pretty small chance of HTC posting the wrong information on their data sheet. <_<
Guest Hightech Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I think there is a pretty small chance of HTC posting the wrong information on their data sheet. <_< One week left for this device to come out if the date of 9/03/2007 is correct crossing my fingers... ;)
Guest TeDeV Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 i am guessing that Kaiser will come out at 5th, and get to stores by 10th. so let's say 2 weeks .
Guest Brounoh Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 guysss, you make me nervous... if I see dates it make it true in my mind... but after few weeks of long a painful waiting if a "trustful leak" doesn't say a special thing about the release I don't believe! Different website of expensys do not agree etc... I cross my fingers to see it in store in few days/weeks but honestly I don't believe in it yet
Guest TeDeV Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 i believe in it. but all this time that we WAIT for it to be published made us nervous....

Guest Heinz2004 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 (edited) @Paul: Could you please try to take one picture from a letter or an Flyer (ca. 30cm x 20 cm)? This may give us additional information on the quality of the camera with Autofocus and Makro. Thx! Kaiser release date: My guess is 8/31/2007 or 9/1/2007 as this is the beginning of the big IFA-Fair in Berlin. "... new devices like the MDA Touch and MDA Vario III ..." Guest ScrewlooseAZ Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 @Paul: Could you please try to take one picture from a letter or an Flyer (ca. 30cm x 20 cm)? I thought he took a picture of a buisness card. . . Somewhere back there. If not Paul then someone else did, but either way it looked pretty sharp.
Guest Kchrpm Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) Couple of previously posted pictures with text: http://www.modaco.com/content/uploads/mont...-1183777882.jpg http://www.modaco.com/content/uploads/mont...-1183777387.jpg Hint for searching the thread quickly: click Options, then Download This Topic. Pick one of the formats and it will show you the entire thread on one huge page ;) And the business card picture was in the video in this news post: http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Kaiser-roundup-t257799.html Edited August 24, 2007 by Kchrpm
Guest mapletian Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 hi , just see a Spb benchmark index and kaiser has scored 438, this is only half of o2 Flame(intel 520, scores 800),and cpu test scores 17xx, compared to Flame 2100, so, please can Paul or anyone tell me does it mean Kaiser is slow or hard to handel in some applications? btw, i got a Dopod 838 pro(previous version of Kaiser) with slide keyboad too, now the keyboard starts to lose, with amount of flex or movement in any direction,so is Kaiser going to be like that as well? many thanks
Guest xricex Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 wow still no announcement a week b4 sept... anouncement nxt week? ...since at&t sept 3rd release....?

Guest Heinz2004 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) Thank you for the pictures. Can you read a telefax or a letter (with smaller characters) if you scan it with this 3.0 Megapixel camera? This was not possible with other HTC-devices. But now I think scanning of a document ist possible with the HTC-Kaiser because of the wide range of the autofocus. As the business card works with OCR (Optical Charakter Recognition) there may be a chance of using OCR-Software on Kaiser-scanns. Flipchart-Dokumentation is an other application.
