I admit when I first got the spv, i wasnt that impressed with its functionality, sure It was a one of a kind in its own right.

But as the months have passed and through literally living at this forum mainly My SPV has in my eyes become Awesome!! And I am still on the same handset I originally got 5 months ago!!

Can wait to see what the next few months have in store for this baby!!

yeah, this phone just gets better and better. once you customize your homescreen, download sweet apps and games and NES emulators, load it up with mp3s and divx movies. its freakin amazing!

By the time my contract runs out ie next Xmas, I predict that I will be spoilt for choice for my upgrade. A lot of companies are working on smartphones at the moment. I am particularly interested at the work being carried out by Asus and Mitac

the asus one is cool and very powerfull, the mitac one aint as impressive to be honest, but, given the choice, i wouldnt have a clamshell design.

by next christmas we'll have smartphones a lot more powerfull than the ones we see currently, and hopefully will be running Ozone.

It has to be said that award for producing the most talked about and entertaining piece of software for SPV goes to orange, for software licensing.

Yeh I admit, speed is definately a factor that plays against the SPV, its not crap but could be a lot better.

I think this phone was an excellent benchmark for all other "SmartPhones" to try to beat.

i wouldnt say the speed is a factor against it,in fact, i wonder what people are complaining about regards speed, mine runs fine, just make sure you shut down apps, its not surprising when about 5 apps are running that the phone slows down. but, a better processor would allow emulators to run faster if its games yer into

Yeh once you have the Taskmanager, it does make it better, it really should be a standard app on the spv, i dont know where I would be without it!!!

The clamshell design might not be to eveybodies taste but it does have its advantages.

1) Keypad cannot dial in your pocket. So no more embarrasing moments where you have to explain why you have been phoning the emergency services.

2) Your screen is protected against scratching.

3) The volume to surface area ratio is smaller. I.E. As the phone is foldable there is more room to place the screen and keys, as well as making the phone a more compact item.

4) You get two screens. That is pretty cool -especially dual colour.

A little confused though, yeah the newer smarphones will be faster but will all the homebrew software be able to run on the newer phones without modification like a win 98 app could on xp for example...

amo, yup, its still basically the same os, it will be backwards compatible, however, software designed for ozone may not necessarily work on smartphone2002

ethanol, get you point, but, most clamshell units are ugly looking phones, and almost all have an external antenna. Oh, and look at the size of the mitac, clamshell design and still as large as the spv.
