Hermes & Wifi Networks

I've just changed my ISP. I've just received my Sky.com Netgear wireless modem/router. I'm told "it's a really good one that it..." but never having used one before, I wouldn't know one way or the other :) Apparently, its 108 Mbps 'Super Wireless'.

Will my Hermes (in Vario II guise) use this 108 Mbps to the full? Will the Hermes support WPA encryption or do I need to change the Netgear's default to WEP? The manual isn't clear on is.

Lastly, to set up a network to my PC, as far as I know I choose 'Work' rather than 'Internet' when logging on to the wifi modem and I guess I'd need to 'Share' the drive my media is on before I can access it through the Hermes?

Is there anything else I'll need other than the WPA/WEP key? How do I explore the network (n00b when it comes to networks :P ) - will Pocket IE do it or do I need something else? Where do I point IE?

Soooo many questions.....

;)

First you will enjoy up to 54mbs with your device. Second it should support WPA (at least with the latest roms it will).

Third you will need a network-able file explorer. I don't know which one T package in their rom - but O's isnt. So you need to add a beefier one like resco. Then you can access network shares.

Don't change any of the other settings (such as "work") - just leave them as they are,

Thanks jimbouk.

I guess I'll take a look at Resco as I suspect T's File Explorer is no different to O's :)

OFT kinda:

pd.ryder I highly recommend you flash the Router, Sky's Firmware will cause problems (Including Full Router Crashes everyday!!!), more info at skyusers.co.uk

Otherwise enjoy you new much faster Broadband...

Note: WiFI Sucks on the Sky Router, range seems to = 10meters max.
