All broken :( Any ideas?

My Hermes (M3100) has died :)

How it happened: I was getting lots of text messages - there were around 90 unread - when the "unread" number changed to some random number around 15000. From then, phone is broke.

Symptons: Phone turns on from reset/battery removal, and for about 3 seconds it seems to work, then freezes. Bluetooth light is flashing, have turned this off in the few seconds on startup but it comes back on. On/Off button works to turn the screen on and off, but nothing else. For a while, it kept saying there was voicemail, even though there wasn't.

Tried soft resets countless times. If I get into contacts within the 3 seconds, I can scroll and read the contacts list. Tried to get to the hard reset screen, and can't. Tried to sync the phone, after soft reset it starts to establish communication with the PC then dies. Tried both no sim and a different sim. Tried to get to the memory screen but there isn't time.

Any suggestions appreciated!

What do you mean cannot get to the hard reset screen? Do you mean the clear storage option? if so, hard reset using the button method. (Hold the two buttons beneath the screen and then soft reset at the same time - I think)

Yeah what he said... hey presto it should be back to factory fresh (or cooked rom fresh if thats where it was before)

I've managed to fix this.. went into "unread SMS" in the few seconds before the phone freezed, and it let me delete things. All was then ok. In the broken state, the "two soft buttons plus reset" didn't get me into the reset menu, it just restarted as usual..
