For the bloody Vario 2 update???

Cos you dont want to risk your warranty by flashing to one of the (most likely better than the official release will be) cooked ROMs.

Can there be any other reason?

No, but its the same reason I haven't done it and its still ticking me off. I might be more inclined to try a warranty killing ROM when one is released that is built on a native Hermes WM6 ROM.

The hybrid black build came about (AFAIK) due to deficiencies in the final native Hermes build, to do with power drains and bluetooth issues.

Actually my bad. I haven't been on XDA for a while and an uncooked native Hermes WM6 ROM is now available.

I didn't check in there for a day or two and came back to find I had missed a whole generation of ROMs! I think that development wil slow down a bit now as we approach the release of the final builds - although as i understand it I think the cooked roms will be better than the final releases for the Hermes.

Besides. xda is still occassionally not as pleasant a place to visit as Modaco, so don't blame you
