Guest rvanzo Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) Here are VERY GOOD emulators of other platforms that work fine on my S710 > ScummVM (emulate SCUMM engine, the one Lucasarts Adventures - and others adventures games - use... :) ) > FinalBurn WM port (emulates CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo - leave 8kHz sound to have smooth animations) :P >PocketNesterPlus (emulates NES. Many options , portrait and landascape modes, and can have 22kHz sound on the TI OMAP 201Mhz CPU of the vox) >PicoDrive (emulates Sega Master System. Not as rich of options as PocketNesterplus but has all you'll evere really want. Portrait and landascape modes... leave 8kHz sound for a smooth rendering) > PocketDos with plugins (using version uploaded by dyter with keyboard mapping... still experimenting on it) Here are emulators that work but can be enhanced or have minor incompatibility issues >PocketHobbitSp2 patched (C64 emulator: missing landscape mode - user interface is poor <_< - default key mapping is awful) Here are interesting emulators I was NOT successfull to set working in a DECENT way. > nP0/Wall/other variants DosBox (does not start ;) ) > Cultmame (Multi arcade... starts but I can not interact in any way ... settings issues? It's my fault?) > GBACE1.0 (GBA emulator. No Landscape mode available and coud not get many roms to run correctly. Better wait for the next release.) >PocketSNES v 1.52 (emulates SNES: too much frequent blocks with varous roms. I also have to remove battery to turn off the device when it blocks. Is not as stable as other Masterall Releases - but does a good job when the rom works and does not crash) I'm still experimenting other emulators... if you already did, simply post here your experience... and I'll add it to the list basing notes on your comment or my own experience... Did you tried emus more recent?? :) PocketSNES by Masteral works like a charm PicoDrive by Masteral should work too Pocket GNUBoy by parallax20 has still an issue with menu option un accessable ingame (cause the emu to exit) . <_<

First of all I'll try Masterall's emulatorS. Thankyou for your advice. Adding... -Picodrive -PocketSNES -PocketNesterPlus -GBACE0.1

Guest Enigma_tw Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Pocket NesterPlus can map keyboard keys for game functions. Although I can't get it to select the landscape option radio buttons. It just skips past them :/

Guest dyter Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 PocketDos work fine on my S710, you probably don't use the good version. You must start in landscape mode All works, I use full azerty keyboard after editing the remap keys option

You must start in landscape mode All works, I use full azerty keyboard after editing the remap keys option I tried PocketDOS 1.12.0. and 1.12.1 (downloaded directly from www.pocketdos.com ) versions using FreeDos as OS and BOCHS 386/486 as CPU add-in. I also tryed using HTC 620 keyboard mapping and starting it in landscape or portrait mode: nothing worked. The softkey giving access to menu and text modes are still "stucked" ;) My Vox is an HTC stardard version, official ROM (OS CE 5.2.1235 Buil 17740.0.2.0 radio comp 4.1.13.37_02.83.90). Any suggestion? Edited September 5, 2007 by rvanzo

Guest rvanzo Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) Start pocket dos in landscape mode with my keyboard map and pocketdos demo version WOW... I'm just delighted. Thanks for the upload. I finally have soft key functioning and some of my old geat dos apps ;) running. It would be great to know from you what version you have to dowload (when there will be a newer one...) because i just installed the standard Smartphone one with bad results. Only one suggestion for those installing this version (having installed the wrong one before): you have to delete all previus registry settings to get this functioning "out of the box", when overwriting PocketDos files. I'll update my emultion list putting PocwetDOS in with excellent emus, but i'm still experimenting.... Edited September 6, 2007 by rvanzo
Guest killawattz Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 can someone please post a "dummies" guide to installing these files onto the htc vox? i'm new and i have no idea on where to start with this stuff
Guest rvanzo Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) can someone please post a "dummies" guide to installing these files onto the htc vox? i'm new and i have no idea on where to start with this stuff Hi, every emulator has his own installation procedure. Generally there are three types of installation for the "main program" (not differently than any other wm software):Automatic from PC (you have an *.exe or *.msi file you have to execute on PC with activesync - having previously connected the device to the PC ;) . Usually you can start the sw using installed icon on main "start" screen of wm after this type of installation)Automatic on Device (you have a cab file: copy it to device and execute it on the device using standard file manager or other launcher)Manual: you have a zip archive containing many files. Simply uncompress the archive and move files in the S710 via activesync's view of the HTC filesystem (you will find it "attached" the the local file system on the standard "windows explorer", exactly as you do with usb keys etc.) Then execute emu via file manager on the device ...)Obviously there are other binaries/data files you have to load on the S710 to have the emulators really doing something useful: you need "roms" for the console Emus or "Software/Disks images" for Pocketdos or ScummVM. PS: read "reame" files or *.txt instructions you generally find packed with the emulator to have it up and running in a short time. Edited September 12, 2007 by rvanzo
