Anyone out there running a ROM other than the Cingular one on their 2125 that works well on the Cingular network? I see lots of discussion on different ROMs that work on the tornado/faraday platform but just wanted to know if someone in the good old USA has tried it out on their Cingular device and happier with overall performance than with the 2.0.13.0 from Cingular/HTC. That texting problem just kills me.

I have the I-MAte SP5 rom in my 2125, and it works fine. I don't think I've seen the texting problem noticed in the altest 2125 rom, and it works fine on cingular networks. Only thing that's goofy is the controls for the wifi chip, since the 2125 doesn't have it.

Thanks Snooginsguy. I found version 2.6.331.2 on CoolSmartPhone.com I'll give that a try.

I ended up loading the Qtek 8310 ROM 2.0.9.0 and then updated the radio stack afterwards to get the Cingular radio update. Took a considerable amount of time unlocking and tweaking to get it back to a Cingular configuration that works. But low and behold no texting issue (yeah!). Had a few lockups and spontaneous reboots but seems to be stabilizing. This ROM looks exactly like the Cingular ROM except for the WLAN in the connections which isn't functional on a 2125. Everything seems working fine on the Cingular network doing push email. Can't say I see any noticeable difference in performance so the only thing worth doing this for would be the text'ing issue.

Went back to Cingular 2.0.13.0, too many bugs encountered running the Qtek ROM on my 2125. Spontaneous reboots and just sluggish response. Oh well back to the text'ing problem for me.

Hmm, that's weird. I never tried the Qtek rom in mine. I'd be curious to see if the iMate rom gave you the same problems. I'd alsoc keep tracking that post on here about the WM6 for Tonado that is being worked on, I'm gonna give it a shot at some point I think.

Not completely irrelevant but I ran the Imate rom on my C600 which is the 2125 without the lump, and had no problems with it what so ever.

Here is the link to imates FTP where you can download the latest version, its worth a shot :P

I'm not aloud to direct link due to forum rules :) but heres FTP

ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/

The Tornado version is branded the SP5 so download the

i-mate_SP5_WWE_1.5.331.4.exe

file ;)

Hope it all works ok if you try it.
