Guest Hager Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 (edited) Hello, I am having a problem with WM6 devices synchronising with the Exchange server My HTC S710 synchronizes with the Exchange 2007 server (over SSL) from within the internal LAN without any problems. On the other hand, I can synchronize my device with the same Exchange server (that is, same server, same DNS name but different IP-address) from the internet (e.g. over GPRS) without any problems. However, I cannot synchronize from within the LAN after I synchronized from the internet and vice-versa. So you have to keep in mind that the device should synchronize with Exchange, using the same server name, but with a different IP-address (switching from synchronisation within the internal LAN (@work) to synchronisation from the external internet (@home and everywhere else). In WM5 there is a known problem with this configuration (http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesy nc&tid=75360955-a232-4985-acb2-b55f30cfe23c&p=1://http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...0cfe23c&p=1://http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...0cfe23c&p=1://http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...0cfe23c&p=1://http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...e...0cfe23c&p=1). The problem is that the DNS cache of the device does not get cleared when you disconnect from your existing network and connect to another one. The pocketpc/smartphone keeps on trying to synchronize to the old IP-address (remember : same server name, different IP-address) that - does not exist (in case he tries to contact the internal address from the outside world) - cannot be reached (in case he tries to contact the public IP-address from within the LAN) I have experienced this problem with several WM5 devices, and the registry setting described in the article above solved the problem. However, now we're having a similar problem with the new WM6 devices and the registry setting does not solve the problem completely. Description : - after I synchronised successfully from the internet, the first synchronisation from within the LAN (via USB cable) fails. The following synchronisation succeeds (so he cleared the cache after the first failure, I presume...) - if you disconnect the device, after successfull synchronisation from within the LAN, and try to synchronise over GPRS (over the internet), activesync keeps on trying and trying and trying, .... After a very long time (10, 20 mins) the word synchronising turns from black to grey and changes in 'waiting for network'.... After a soft reset of the device (clear of the DNS cache ?) the synchronisation over GPRS works again without any problems. Is anybody using the same configuration (WM6, exchange setup with same name, different IP's) ? Has anybody experencied this problem ? Is this a general WM6 problem ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.... Edited July 16, 2007 by Hager
