Guest sfcrusader Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Hi All I am running a Samsung i600 with Goodlink Software as well as with MS Activesync (MSFP) to sync up the Pocket Outlook Contacts database. The i600 is a great device and Goodlink does email very well and so I live with the inconvenience and complexity of having both Good and Activesync working together. Someday I hope Goodlink will work with an open contacts database but I need to have two contacts DB on the phone because the SMS application access Pocket Outlook. Goodlink does not do SMS In any case, I have noticed several times now, certain entries in my contacts database dissapearing. I know that they are not being explicitly deleted in Exchange or on the device as I have set confirm delete to on - yet the contacts are dissapearing. Just plain not show up. I cant reproduce this problem consistently but it has now happened more than 10 times in the last few months and so I know that this problem exists. In fact it happened again to me today. I notice this when I want to go call someone and then when I type their name in the contacts list, it does not show up. Then when I go check my outlook contacts on my PC, the contact is not there as well (which is what you would expect given that goodlink syncs the contacts with Exchange). Has anyone heard or seen this problem. Is there a way to turn on some form of logging to see what is happening here. Any other thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated Thanks
Guest Stepir Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Had exactly the same problem in the same configuration. If you search or look in this forum you will still find my post about (pocket outlook contacts disappearing) I600 - Activesync - GL I can only tell for sure that the same config with a HTC Tytn never presented this problem. Did not investigate enough to determine if the problem is Windows mobile for PPC or Smartphone with Goodlink, a bug of GL for WM smartphone. That the contacts are deleted in the smartphone db as I left for 2 weeks activesync with contacts sync disabled and discovered that the contacts disapperead on the device while still presente in the exchange mailbox. I've been enough lucky to be able to switch to direct sync with the Exchange server without using GL anymore. In this condition, without changing FW level on the I600, the issue disapperead. Good luck and please if you ever manage to solve the issue post here the solution :)

Yes I am using direct sync (or Activesync over the air) to sync my pocket outlook contacts database. It sounds like from your posts that the issue may be with activesync and GL working together and it sounds like in this kind of config, activesync appears to be the one causing the deletes - ie contacts disappeared from smartphone contacts db - were the contacts still in the GL contacts DB I will turn off activesync for my outlook contacts and monitor. I also had this issue BTW on an IPAQ 6965 so I dont think this is related to the device I will post a solution when I find it Regards
