Guest bizshows Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 For some time now I have been downloading mail as I always have (notwithstanding the problem with trying to stay connected to TMobile's 3G) - by send/receive to my pop3 account. Recently I have had messages where the headers come through as 'no sender' 'no subject'. I figured these were just spam of some sort, but they would take an age to download (invariably causing my connection to drop saying it had timed out). Today I briefly went back to my old SP5m (which currently has an Orange SIM) and picked up my email. Stangely, the send/receive process was at normal speed and the 'no sender' 'no subject' messages were there with sender & subject information. I have included a screenshot below of both phones to show the difference. I don't so much mind having sender/subject info missing, but why on earth does it slow/stop the send/receive process? Any ideas out there?
Guest jimbouk Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Are you sure its set up as a pop account? I used the auto set up function on my yahoo.co.uk account with the first Wm6 rom I installed and it set my account up for me... Over the next few mail syncs I was amazed at how slow the sync was - until I noticed it was syncing folders - and then realised it had set itself up as an IMAP account by default. I deleted the account and set it up manually as a pop account and it flew along nicely.
Guest bizshows Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 Yep - it's all set up for POP3. And it works normally - apart from these odd 'no sender' 'no subject' emails which are slowing the process to a timeout - even though they are in reality perfectly normal emails. I don't understand how this can happen.
