I have a serious problem with my active sync. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it without any success.

The problem is that when I connect my phone to my laptop it kind of sends out signals to my access point and makes it useless to everybody on the network. The only solution is to restart my computer, otherwise nobody can use the WiFi. Isnt this strange? This happens everytime I connect a smartphone thru active sync and USB.

I use 4.2.0... Has anyone seen this problem before or am I the first?

I wrote this before and someone told me to choose

"Settings->Connections->USB to PC

and unticking the "Enable advanced Network Functionality" option! "

but my new phone, Samsung I600 doesnt have that function. What to do??

Thanks

How is your network set up? Is your access point sharing your pc's web connection to others?

Which device is acting as DHCP server for the network? If you can't turn off the smartphone's IP connection (in favour of a USB connection), then can you set a fixed IP address to resolve it?

I´ve one wifi router which is connected directly to our ethernet connection. And then the computers at home connects thru the wireless network and get an IP by DHCP from the AP.

Havent tried to give an fixed IP. I realised that it also messes up the wireless connection if i´m connected to the router thru an ethernet cable...

I would hazard a bet you are using WPA.

Use WEP instead of WPA. Its a problem with WPA PSK TKIP and activesync.

It may not be quite as secure but if you have mac filtering too then you should be fine.

Oh crap, I´m using WPA PSK. that really sucks! Gotta find a solution for that one. Seriously, how is this even possible? Why can´t they solve this? I´ve been using WM for 8 years now and but used symbian for a year and now changed back to WM and it´s a damn big diffrence between symbian on nokia n73 and WM. There are so many bugs and problems in the software. Just trying to make an dialup connecting takes alot of time the first time...

well this sucks!

Thanks anyway mate!

Flash a WM6 rom or a recent WM5 rom and dial up is a thing of the past...
