Guest milleracer41 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Simple question really. I have a few pics taken on my Vario II that I want to send via Bluetooth to my PC. I have already set up Bluetooth between the handset and the PC and transferred a few things from the PC to the Vario II. But when I try and transfer anything via Bluetooth from the Vario to the PC, I cannot see any way to do it?. If I select the "Send" option from the handset, it only gives me the options of "Text Messages" "Outlook Email" or "MMS". How do I send files via BlueTooth from the handset to my PC?.
Guest pd.ryder Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Send them via File Explorer. Browse to the file(s) you want to send, highlight them and hold the stylus on the selection until the menu pops up (a long press on the screen). One of the menu options is 'Beam...', let the VII find your PC's bt port then highlight it and 'Send'. That should do the trick, if you can understand my rubbish directions :) :P
Guest milleracer41 Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Thanks for the info. Tried that, but all I get in the "Beam" menu is:- "To Beam, select a device". Then underneath is:- Infrared and Searching....... ????

It can take a while and I've always found the HTC bt stuff a bit of a let down compared to less-smart phones & devices :) :P
Guest mandt Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 If I may... ensure your Bluetooth is turned on and discoverable first before you select 'beam'
Guest milleracer41 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 If I may... ensure your Bluetooth is turned on and discoverable first before you select 'beam' DOH!!! That was it!!. I didnt have the PC set to be discoverable. Mind you, even after setting it to be, I find the Bluetooth transfers between the Vario and the PC to be a bit of a "hit or a miss" whether they actually send and recieve.

Sounds like WM5 to me, bluetooth was dodgy, A2DP allways skipped, blah blah. Upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 and maybe try Resco Explorer 2007 as it has much better Bluetooth Support (It saves previous devices so you do not have to wait for the search and even shows you what speed its sending the file at.) I'm sure you won't be the last. Like UndeadDevil says BT is a bit hit and miss, Resco is certainly better. Consider investing in a Wi-Fi Router and transfer your files that way, which is soooooooo much better :) Edited July 26, 2007 by mandt

As I said, still getting to grips with this little marvel, the Vario II is my first PDA phone and by the looks of things here, I have a lot to learn!!. :P
Guest mandt Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Good stuff, Definitely invest in Resco explorer then, as it makes accessing your shared folders absolute simplicity. as well as being a must have tool in its own right :) Trial here

If your going to buy Resco I'd strongly suggest you instead just subscribe to MoDaCo. (I'm not advertising! Its only £35 and Resco costs half that amount) Reason's why I will be subscribing: (All of this is included and much more) Resco Explorer Opera Fireball (Great Game) SPB GPRS Monitor + No Ads on MoDaCo Supporting this site The above software would cost me double the price of membership if I bought individually. Resco makes it much easier to access your network on your PDA as well, allowing you to browse the whole network instead of manually entering PC Names. Edited July 27, 2007 by UndeadDevil
