Guest djac965930 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Greetings all. Well its been 3 months with my Vario 2 and we're both very happy. Still finding new bits to play with but that's what happens when you never read the manual...! Anyways, one of the reasons I went to the V2 was for the big screen and watching videos (ipods be damned!). I have Xilisoft Vid Converter which is a global help when moving one format of vids into another and always served me well on the K750 What are the best settings that people have found when it comes to creating or converting video for the V2? I like best quality but then a 2gb mem card only goes so far. And has anyone managed to get an MP4 working on a windows mobile toy that will play the H.264 codec? Obviously that would bump up quality and lower file size. Any view viewpoints or experiences, love to hear from you. All knowledge is a good thing!
Guest sagr Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I use Nero 7 to encode to Nero's own version of mp4 (Nero Digital Video - or something?). I select option for portable (there are options for mobile, cinema, HD etc...) I also crop the sides of the video so that I get more picture on the screen (usually by 80 pixels either side dependant on the source video - and whether it is wide screen!!!) But thats it - very simple... A 45min video usually uses about 170mb, but is absolutely perfect - no stutter or slow frame updates etc. Audio is also very good - stereo etc. This works fine in Windows Media Player 10 Mobile - which is installed on my Black Majik ROM I have installed. Not sure whether there is a anything special added to the Black ROM or not for Nero digital mp4?? In the past I have tried WMV via Windows Movie Maker, but no luck - never seem to get reliable playback. Hope this helps?
Guest UndeadDevil Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I recommend getting The Core Media Player (It has no trouble playing High-Res DivX!) and then converting to DivX 320x240 at 256kbps Video + 128kbps Audio. Looks Great, Sounds great, and usually ends up at about 100mb per hour half hour. It also supports H264 which is what you want! Also don't use Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 works alot faster and finally has that ATI ImageON Video Acceleration bug fixed.
