Guest Maxwell Smart Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 Hi All, I'm having two problems using TomTom Navigator 6 on my SPV M700. Firstly I've managed to get the full 7 digit postcode working BUT the way you access it is NAVIGATE TO > ADDRESS > POSTCODE not NAVIGATE TO > POSTCODE as it appears it should be. This is annoying because I can't search for the first 2/3 digits of the postcode and then the street - I now need to use the full postcode everytime. I've got it installed in ZIP on the root of my storage card. I have tried installing it to the device too but still no joy. Secondly when I go NAVIGATE TO > and then pick either CITY CENTRE or STREET AND HOUSE NUMBER the only City it lets me commence searching from is Aberdeen. How do I get it to show the other cities as well? At the moment I need to locate an address by browsing map which can be a real pain - especially as I have Western Europe installed so it is pig slow... Thanks in advance for any help... By the way great forum.

As far as I am concerned this is the correct behaviour for (at least) version 6 of TomTom Secondly when I go NAVIGATE TO > and then pick either CITY CENTRE or STREET AND HOUSE NUMBER the only City it lets me commence searching from is Aberdeen. Guest Neil5459 Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Above reply seconded! Worked like that for me :)
Guest Maxwell Smart Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Thanks for the response Guys - yes my stupidity. I was basing the postcode search on what I read which must be for Navigator 5. I didn't realise to use a partial postcode search you had to choose Cities instead. :) As for only Aberdeen showing up it was just me being impatient. Yes if I type another city and wait a minute more choice show up. Though now that I have done it a few times I only need to wait about 10 seconds. Is it always this slow to respond? The M700 doesn't have that slow a processor especially compared to the specs for the actuall GPS devices which seem much quicker to respond.
Guest Neil5459 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 The Western Europe version is slow, because it searches the whole map for matches (900MB); also, the more POI's you have active the slower it will run, so maybe try disabling a few POI's.

It is only slow to start and search. Though I do have a few POIs as I have all the speed cameras by grouped by speed - i like having the voice warn me what speed I need to drive so will make do. But what I would like to find out is if there is someway to group the POIs so I can enable/disable/modify all those speed cameras at once - there are quite a few so its tedious... Unfortunately I'm using an upgrade of the free Navigator that was given out with the HTC P3600 so it doesn't come with an instruction manual or the tomtom speedcamera database - but then again it did only cost half of the boxed version so I shouldn't complain.
