Guest samawil Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Hi, I just got my Touch, and I wanted to know if anyone has a tutorial to create today screens. I'm sure how much this applies since I just changed from a Smartphone (htc S710) but with the nontouchscreen wm6 you create today screens with HTML....same here? Thanks Lou
Guest sjeemsnl Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Hey there Samawil, afaik there is no such thing as on the samrtphone to design your own HomeScreen. The things you can do is change the items that appear on your homescreen (by going to: Start => settings => Today and the Tab Items) and you can change the order in wich they appear. One the same Setting there is a tab Display (not sure about the exact name since my phone is in dutch :P Would have liked it better if it was just english)) and you can choose some predefined themes. And If tyou would like a custom background image. If I'm wrong about this please someone do correct me, I would love to know since I would love to change the way my homescreen looks :) Hope this helps. grtz, Sjeems
Guest simon211175 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 PocketPCs are highly customisable, with the right equipment. I've only had my Touch for a week so I haven't explored fully, but it all depends on what level you intend to take theming. Mandt's link above looks to be for software that would only allow you to amend the theme colours and homescreen image(s). Fine if that's all you ever did on a smartphone, but for me that was never enough. For complete (or as complete as PPCs will allow) control, you need to head over to the following sites for additional software: Wisbar Advance / Wisbar Advance Desktop SBSH Pocket Breeze The first link will give you a shell to run on top of the standard OS. The second is a program that replaces all the existing plugins so you can just have that on your screen - but with your own skinned elements.
Guest samawil Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks that's all very useful. I thought that one could add plugins like in Smartphones and then decide where they are on the screen, and since it's touch screen, simply tap them instead of having to scroll down to them to activate. I wonder if there's a way to do that. I also wasn't sure if the normal apps for ppc like wizbar, pi, pocketbreez etc worked on the touch but I guess they do...I'll be putting those on today. Thanks for your help, Lou
Guest simon211175 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Also, take a look at rlToday (google it) - it's free (unlike the others I mentioned) and you can pretty much place things anywhere using simple xml code (like we did for smartphones).
