HTC S710 Bluetooth Problems

I received my shiny new S710 today (replacing my imate sp5) i am having terrible problems with bluetooth and my car kit (Parrot Ck3100 with latest software) The phone connects and syncs ok but disconnects after a few mins and refuses to connect again.

I have an old motorola h605 headset that shows similar problems of not connecting or dropping the connection.

The Ck3100 kit has worked faultlessly with my imate sp5 for the last year.

Has anyone else had any problems with headsets or car kits?!

I have done a hard reset on the S710 and have nothing installed, and also disconnected the power to the CK3100 for 1/2 an hour before attempting to re setup the pairing

I was looking at bluetooth last night for the first time on my Vodafone v1415 which is a re-badged S710. I came to the conclusion that bluetooth is dodgy on this device. I was sat in the pub with four friends, having a transfer session (as you do) and whilst the other Samsung, Motorola and Nokia users could transfer things backwards and forwards quite happily, I really strugged.

Sometimes they just wouldn't see my phone - other times I couldn't see theirs. Other times, it just sat saying "pending..."

I felt very left out :)

i feel your pain...

when i go out of an evening and the obligatory phone smut/funny/'home' movie swapping session starts, i don't even bother getting my phone out of my pocket. The hassle of getting the device recognised by ANY other brand is tortuous and inconsistent at best. having to make sure the Blutoof visibility is on seems to be the main culprit - it doesn't seem to be the case of switching it on and off at your will, more like the phone will allow one file and then decide to be invisible again!

it is cold comfort to show your mates the gigs of *ahem* entertainment in wmv, mpeg or even DivX format when you cant send it to them!! i know they cant play it when it gets there but thats THEIR problem not mine!! i look like a phone outcast when i cant even send it to them with my (supposed) smart(er than theirs) phone.

it all down to the simple fact that Microsoft and Bluetooth dont mix.. If you really want some bluetooth hassles, try and activesync thru it... :)

I tried the off and back on again and it worked once as you say. Managed to transfer a small 20k picture.

I do like this device but Windows Mobile is living up to it's Windows-buggy tag. Actually, more like Windows Millenium in stability. Windows XP isn't that bad. However, I seem to be often popping the battery out of the back because it's crashed. I'm not doing anything particularly special.

It also seems to turn itself off at random, maybe when it's giggled about say in a rucksack. I think I had to reset my razr once. That said, the functionality of this phone is far better and yes, you get "oohhs and ahhhs" when you show them a complete episode of Life on Mars.

I'm looking forward to an upgrade of the O/S...

Cheers, Rob.

hmmm.. mine aint that bad!

i run Facade and that has a soft reset icon that means i can re-boot the phone from within the screen which i do maybe once every coupla days. this is mainly for my own peace of mind that i haven't left it with a dozen things running slowing it down unnecessarily. It doesn't crash (lock ups are very rare - p'raps once or twice in the couple of months i've had it now) but it does run painfully slow when activesync'd. so slow it struggles switching between things like Outlook Mail and File Manager!

but hey - i get the oohs and aahs when i stream in stuff of my PC with Orb,access the home Webcam or even playback a whole episode of Heroes with a properly watchable video quality!. :)

I'm also having problems with bluetooth on the S710. First, I cannot seem to sync to my PCs via bluetooth using ActiveSyc 4.5 -- no idea what the problem is there. Just won't pair up. Maybe a com port issue? Tried 1000 things.

Also, I cannot answer a call using my moto IHF1000 bluetooth car kit. Everything else works fine.. just can't pick up an incoming call. The car kit just hangs up on the caller when I try to pick up a call.

Seems to me that the bluetooth is buggy, which is hard to believe since my 3 year old Nokia had no problems with bluetooth anywhere.

I just got my brand new HTC S710 from SFR in France, replacing my buggy Nokia 9280 ...

I also installed a brand new Parrot CK3100 in my new car last july, and it is running OK with the HTC S710. The only limitation on CK3100 is the number of contacts ! I have too many in my outlook address book !!!

sorry.. havent got a clue how it works... it just does! not so hot over GPRS but very good with a WiFi connection. having said that, even with GPRS only, i still get a watchable webcam stream running with about 30kbps
