Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Which is, in fact, a port of PocketScumm  ... well ... it's working "not too bad", but needs a bit of optimization to keep everything in synch - the games are still very playable If you're new to ScummVM, there's a nice tutorial on PocketMatrix http://forums.pocketmatrix.com/viewtopic.php?t=8606 which is still valuable for the SPV port, as it explains how to convert your talkie games to MP3 and other useful things To get started, put a (original of course) game on your Storage Card, Game/Scan then Game/Play ... some games need to be put in a specific directory, be sure to check the tutorial if it doesn't work Almost all user controls are obvious (see in Options/Key Mappings) - the "Zone" button is quite useful and allows you to jump from one zone of the screen to another (I defined 3 zones, one for the game screen, one for the verbs and one for the inventory) ... just test it and you'll like it  Happy testing & adventuring  http://arisme.free.fr/SPV/PocketScumm_SPV_030127.zip Updated : better sound speed http://arisme.free.fr/SPV/PocketScumm_SPV_030129.zip
Guest dodgybob Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 We SPV users have access to the MOTHER OF ALL APPS!! You ppl don't understand how long i've been waiting for a ScummVM app for my Mob ;) Im curently digging up Sam & Max from my loft !! I can't believe I can play these games again on my computer ... It almost brings a tear to my eye!! Can't wait to try it... will keep you informed of progress!
Guest MBoden Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Hey cool, who's up for a port of the Infocom parser ? ;)
Guest Pidder Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 WOW Indy4 on my smartphone. I love you for porting classics like this one. This is truly amazing ;) Pidder
Guest amo Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Can someone post screenshots, in gameshots in particular. Not heard of this before now. Curious though,...
Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 you can get some demos if you want to test the games, on LucasArts ftp site (ftp.lucasarts.com), in the directory /demos/pc Indiana Jones 4 (Interactive) : playfate.zip Day of the Tentacle (Non interactive you'll probably have to remove the battery to exit the game ) : dottdemo.zip Sam & Max (Interactive I think) : Snmdemo.zip
Guest jtsaint Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Monkey Island on my phone! This is a truly wonderfull app. Thankyou Arisme much appreciated,
Guest jtsaint Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The graphics are top quality - its a little slow just like gameboy emulator but that doesnt really matter too much considering these type of games. I love the way it landscapes the screen and you can define your own key mappings. I really like the ZONE key - brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Guest DJHope Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Thats amazing, just been playing indiana jones, the only thing is its a little slow (although i was playing it through all-explorer) unbelieveable ;) The key mapping option is top stuff! Here some piccys for you
Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Thanks  yes I'd recommand to play it with no other apps launched, but hey it's not always possible ... anyway it's really tricky to optimize (it may be difficult to believe when you see how slow it is but this version is already an optimized version of PocketScumm ) - guess that I'll have to install EVC 4 (ouch) to get a real remote profiler ... I hoped that the threading support would be better in Stinger but obviously this isn't the case
Guest mashkhan Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Fantastic! Arisme, Is it possible to exit from the game once launched. At the moment I'm trying the Fate of Atlantis demo, However when i want to finish the game I find the only thing I can do is pull out the battery.
Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 oops, I thought it only happen with the non interactive demos ... I'll fix this for the next release, sorry
Guest dodgybob Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Its amazing man!!!! Ive been playing SamnMax all night!! Excellent game... i bought the orginal a few years back for my 486 I haven't played this game in yonks!!! Its excellent... Im haviong problems with SamNMax... I never converted the Monster.__ sound file... Even on my PC using ScummVM I never do that! Why do you recomend this for PocketScumm? I got the sound working without conversion. Its terrific... the animation is really slow... They say sommin (audio) then a few seconds later the subtitles come up and then they move their mouths really slowly... Its annoying but I got through it!! Is that sommin to do with the fact that I never converted the sound file... Is there a way of disabling sound because doing that in most other SPV games seems to speed it up a hell of a lot!!! - {dunno why!} Anyway... now for spending Computing Lectures playing Monkey Island 1!!
Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 in fact you don't have to convert the file, it's just that a 100 Mb file will be reduced to 40 Mb, but if your storage card is big enough, no problem  Sam & Max is the slowest game, because it's emulating the original Miidi music (which is emulated with an AdLib driver which is emulated in software)
Guest Emad Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 How odd. I took out the battery because I couldn't figure out how to exit dott and it hard reset itself! Sorta anyway - my edited start menu shortcuts were all in place, but applocking was back.. Oh well, all fixed now..
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 If you cause a fatal error that corrupts any part of the registry, SmartPhone rebuilds it when you next boot. This could cause the phone to beong un-de-certificated again.
Guest Pidder Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I can's save my indy4 game. The menu works, but there is no savegame taken. Any suggestions?
Guest Arisme Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The process is a bit complicated for the moment ... Use the menu Select "save" Select a slot Press a non mapped key (such as 3) Press the action button (center of the joystick)
Guest Pidder Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Thanx, gonna try that immediately :-) Thanx arisme, you made me ten years younger!!!
Guest Moodj Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Too great. Thank you. I hope it will be optimized a little more to have best quality intros and gaming ;) Wow ! SPV Rules !!!
Guest Drift3r Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Where can you buy/download the games from? This is the first I've heard of PocketScumm but would really like to play Monkey Island all over again!! Cheers
Guest Gorskar Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 I've got the Monkey Island bounty pack, with both monkey island 1 and 2 on the 1 CD. Looking at those helpful instructions, it appears I need to convert the audio to mp3, but there are 24 audio tracks there, and Im not sure which ones are for which game! Can anyone help me out.... (I'm starting with MI1) - which ones should I convert for this game? ... all of them? ...
Guest Emad Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Ahh, sam and max on my wee mobile, bless.. You can buy these games for about a fiver from most games shops, or more from lucas arts directly. Your best bet would be eBay as always though..
Guest Gorskar Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Ah, just answered my own question, reading those instructions more carefully, all the music files are for MI1. Seem to run ok. Ill have a crack at the sound now!
Guest meaks Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 sorry to be really thick - i have the sam and max cd - how do i go about getting that on my storage card?
