Guest ewel Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 In my old phone I had re-arranged the start menu by making some folders and moving shortcuts around. In WM5 I cannot move or copy shortcuts in the start menu because of the error 'access denied'. Is there any solution to this?
Guest ewel Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Solved it, turned out that I needed to decertify and unlock the phone (which was supposed to be unlocked).

Guest ewel Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 How did you do that? Are they registry settings or depend which device is? I have an S620 What worked for me is following the instructions here: http://robertpeloschek.blogspot.com/2006/0...ur-windows.html I found some suggestions on the web which covered only two ot three of these reg edits but it only really worked for me when I did all of these. This apparently does not work for all devices. See also this thread: http://www.modaco.com/application-unlock-soluti-t250114.html Or pick some of the keywords from these discussions and Google for those with your device name..

Guest genaldar Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 You might want to try abstract start. It'll save you the trouble of messing with the registry.

Thank you but what do you mean "abstract" ? Sorry :) Also I saw that you own a T-mobile Wing device.I just waiting to receive one in the next few days. Can you give me some information for the device? Are you happy with it? Does it perform well? in menus, progs, games, internet etc? Thanks again Regards George
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 ... what do you mean "abstract" ? Sorry :) Abstract Start homepage: http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~gambit/AbstractStart/
Guest gesam Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 (edited) Abstract Start homepage: http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~gambit/AbstractStart/ Dear Sir many thanks for your answer. ;) Finally I have this program and it is very useful indeed , but only to change the order that programs will appear. :) I want something more - to be able to make folders and to move system icons into these folders in order to re-organize them and to have them in the START menu the way I want. :P It is Registry depended and there are generally hacks for Windows and ALL the devices or it is device dependand unlock procedure? For example I own S620 and probably I will have S630 .... Will I be able to "unlock" them and make the modifications I want? :D Thank you Sir for your help... Edited August 15, 2007 by gesam
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 You are more than welcome, gesam. :) How about gStart? Features: 1) Start Menu replacement for SP 2003 2) Enables you to view your Start Menu items as List or as Large Icons 3) Customizable color scheme 4) Customizable background image. (choose image from any location - new) 5) Dynamically create, rename, move and delete folders on your Start Menu directory 6) Copy, rename, move and delete shorcut items 7) Compatible with customized shortcuts and folder icons 8) Re-order shortcut items and folders (compatible with Start Menu) 9) Option to use as default Start Menu 10) Now supports QVGA (240x320) devices like C550, C600, etc. These links might help: http://www.modaco.com/gStart-Menu-t228390.html http://www.airfagev.com/forum_view.asp?msg_id=169308 You wouldn't encounter trouble with 'general' / basic hacks including those homescreen-related ones IF your unit is fully application and 'security' unlocked. There are certain sections of the registry which can only be modified once certain keys are unlocked. SDA Security Unlocker for example, can achieve such task on 2002/2003 SE units I've tried. I am not familiar though with how stuff are done on S620. It's the good ole C500 that I'm still using.
