Guest maclondon Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I've just got a shiny s710 and my pc is vista. I tried the install cd and it moaned about me not having flash 8 (I have a newly installed flash 9!!) but I had previously installed windows mobile device centre - which recognised my old xda exec and even spv c500!! but it just wont see the s710 constantly moaning about not having device drivers etc. i even downloaded the latest WMDC and that seemed to make little difference in fact when installing that it also moans about not havign a device driver!!! at this rate I will only be able to sync at home with missing sync on my iBook!! :)

Mine partners up but can't sync. I can install programs and access the device for copying files but it won't sync. Says my "Internet settings are not correct". But it syncs fine over the air so I only use the USB for charging and copying files. Does it on both work and home PCs running Vista.

Guest Urs Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 So if anybody had any luck synchronizing Vox with Windows Vista based Outlook ? I'm getting new laptop (probably with Vista preinstalled) and I'm scared :)
Guest StephaneM Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 So if anybody had any luck synchronizing Vox with Windows Vista based Outlook ? I can partner and sync with my E650 and Vista. However this is the worst experience I ever had with a smartphone regarding sync: * Sometimes the phone refuse to sync, WMDC keep saying there is an error. It takes many disconnect / reconnect (the USB cable) for the phone to sync (when it doesn't sync you can still access the phone for copying files) * Sometimes when you connect the phone to the PC it loose its partnership (either the Exchange one or the PC one). It's very irritating and I never figured out why it does this (Fortunately when you recreate the partnership you don't have to recreate voice shortcuts or custom ringtones for contact) I tried to switch on / off the advanced networking option for the USB connection. It seems to work better with this option turned off (and a lot better with the latest WMDC update) I'm not running a software firewall on the Vista PC (not even MS one : disabled by corporate policy) and I'm using Avast as virus scanner. I have also eWallet installed on the smartphone and the PC (as it does have a sync on itself this may also create problems). For now I think that it's all WMDC fault: as I also experienced some of this with my previous Qtek 8310 (without the irritating loosing partnership thing). Previously with Active Sync on XP I never had any problems whatsoever (from the first Orange SPV) Regards, Stéphane.
Guest Eldar2k Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Weird. I'got Vista Ultimate laptop and my S710. Both work fine.

Syncing with USB cable is one big pain in the ass ;-) It works much better via BlueTooth (dunno why). Besides my phone also sometimes refuses to sync and loose partnership, but configuring it from scratch take me approx. 1 minute and the whole syncing experience is much better than f.e. with Nokia PC Suite or Motorola Phone Tools.
Guest maclondon Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 it worked fine on the one XP machine we have at work so i can at least install .exes if i need to now the rest of the time i use missing sync on macos - and its works bloody brilliantly!! have given up on vista sync - as were moving to an all mac platform at work too in october! :)

Yes except that with the first version of WMDC I had to recreate voice shortcuts and customize ring tones again for each contact and that is taking time. Also sometimes you do not notice that the partnership is gone and when you are about to use the phone: oops no e-mail or no contact on the phone! That's brilliant (though this do not happen anymore with the latest WMDC) Anyway I love Windows Mobile phones because of the sync, and I agree that it's much better than all other sync software I had (paid sometimes) with other phones (Siemens / Sony / Nokia).
Guest Mr_Blonde1971 Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 E650 and Vista Home Premium and they have synced perfectly since i got the phone. Bit of a shame that it was only a trial version of Outlook and WMDC doesnt sync with Windows Contacts, sort of forcing you to Buy outlook!!

Standard Microsoft approach. It's the same with encrypting mail with Win Mobile 6 - You have to use Exchange Server, it odes not work with standard POP3/SMTP servers.
