Guest Espensodal Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 What do You need it for ? What's wrong with current firmware ? i dont know about you, but i find many things wrong with the current firmware. like the poster sais, windows update aint working, and the insanely irritating fact that i never know when i need to hard reset the vox when it start recycling and the "pull out sd card" trick dont work. that has happened three times now, and annoys the living crap out of me having to reinstall everything and set up my homescreen all from scratch. also theres the problem og edge and gprs turning phantom, and everytime i get near a loudspeaker, (like in an elevator) it goes duperriduppduppduppduuuuuuuuupp. cant even use my desktop speakers. so yes please! new firmware would be, with lack of a better word, extremely welcome.

Guest Thumper Net Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 have noticed on the htc site there is an update but i cannot confirm this as iam unable to get to the download page as my s710 has a vodafone rom in a s710 case <_
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Where do you see an update there?!?
Guest Thumper Net Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 came across it when i was looking for the network install app thats gone :) but you have to be a member to go any further so cannot say if the final page is a coming soon page <_
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 (edited) Well... I am a member and do not see anything there besides that old tool. Edited August 12, 2007 by ICQ_Eagle
Guest Espensodal Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 thank god, it's not just me then with loads of problems with it's current firmware (I currently have four of these). i especially hate the way it looks like you have an EDGE/GPRS connection (is that what you mean by phantom?) and actually you haven't which ends up totally locking up the handset if you are using push email and try to send and receive. great looking phone, very convienient and is really good when it's working perfectly. firmware very buggy though :) ohhh, thats why i cant send/recieve? ive almost given up on getting send/recieve to work... yeah it has phantom edge and gprs connections, it constantly sends out signal on edge to who knows who, again its very annoying in elevators, especially if theres more people in it :S its like you get in the elevator, with 2 others and the speaker there goes bananas while youre there, and when you leave it, its all quiet again... but the most annoying is that i have to hard reset the phone so often :P i wish they would publish new firmware soon... because i really really like this phone, and i wouldnt want to get a new "not so cool looking" phone.
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I am in elevators (with music) every day and NEVER had such.
Guest Espensodal Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I am in elevators (with music) every day and NEVER had such. well i do have such, and believe me, its annoying. At least you have music in it, my phone enters the security speaker.
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 But I cannot imagine this is a Vox problem, because it uses the same GSM chipset as many others.
Guest Neil5459 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 ...and settings/windows update not working :) Windows Update won't work unless your carrier/supplier supports it, and enters a contract with MS to use it. So, devices bought from HTC may get update at some point, but UK carrier supplied devices almost certainly won't as thy won't want to pay the license fee.
Guest Espensodal Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 But I cannot imagine this is a Vox problem, because it uses the same GSM chipset as many others. it only occurs on HTC VOX for me alone, and not on any other phone i have owned *ever* with the same simcard and service provider. i think we can safely say it is a vox problem based on that information, even if it is only me on this forum experiencing it. just the fact that it runs straight into my desktop speakers should indicate that it could do the same in some elevators. it does not happen on SE W810i or Samsung D500.
