Guest firkinfedup Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Hi there, I am having great difficulties configuring my new HTC Touch. I would like to do the following, 1. Connect to my wifi (which I can currently do) 2. Connect to the internet through my wifi (can't get it working) Sounds pretty simple I know! I have an M600 and have no problems getting that to do what I want it to do, but the Touch just sits at "Locating" and can't connect to anything. I can on the other hand plug it into my pc using the USB connector and it passes through to the net like that, and also connect via a GPRS connection, but not through my wifi. Also, how do you configure EDGE? Cheers for your time and help in advance. Nick.
Guest Neil5459 Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Have you tried going into the WLAN Control Panel and in the Power tab, setting the slider to fully Left- Maximum Performance? Edge is a function of the network-if available an Edge enabled devcie will just pick it up & use it. The Icon with change to E. Edge signals are only broadcast by Orange from their 3G masts so a lot of areas can't get it yet. Not sure how other operators handle it- I don't think O2 or T Mobile offer it at all yet.
Guest maxwell_hung Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 If it connects to your wifi ok, there's no reason why you shouldn't get out on the net, unless maybe your firewall etc. is stopping it. Can you see the shares on your network etc? I had an m600 too and I connected it the same way. I found the best way was to enable broadcast SID and run dhcp on the router. Let the touch fin the network, then authenticate to it. Once it's got it and your connected, turn off SID broadcast and it should always connect fine. I then lock the router down to the mac address. I did have to try putting the key in a couple of times before it worked but keep trying, it should get it.
Guest Exodia Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 I cant get mine to work either, yet i can get my wizard to connect (and work) just fine. Somethings fishy with wm6. ;)
