Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 The guys over at IMEI-CHECK have just let us know that for the small sum of £20 (GBP), they can now unlock ALL X01HT versions too! Visit the Hermes unlocking page to unlock yours now! :)

Guest The Doctor Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Why would people pay £20 when they can do it for free themselves using http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/ ? AFAIK, pof's method only works on post April White Japanese Softbank X01HT's only IF the extended ROM has NEVER been installed, there is a program in the Ext_ROM that upgrades the HTC_BOOT version of the radio from 0108 to 0182 which will prevent them from unlocking by flashing a patched radio. This can't be fixed by a hard reset either btw :) And although there is a company somewhere selling them unlocked, this is because they have removed the Qualcomm (3G Radio) chip from an unlocked device and copied the EEPROM off it onto all the other chips in the devices they are selling, this means they're unlocked but also they all have the same IMEI... I'd be very interested to know what IMEI-Check did to work around this problem tho... especially as after unlock you won't be able to change your radio version... Phil

Phil So is there anything out there that can unlock a non-white X01HT? I'm pretty frustrated with to unlocker here http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/ since it reports success but the phone's still SIM locked. I don't mind paying if I knew for certain it would work, but they offer no money-back guarantee.
