hermes 300 - unwanted internet reconnection

hi, a real noob question this. got a hermes 300 on t-mo wnw. even if I have no programs running that require access to internet (ie, opera, msn messenger) the phone reconnects to my 3g internet connection every few minutes. firstly, does this matter, i.e. is it sucking up my data allowance? secondly, how do I get it to stop doing this if necessary? one possible pointer: it didn't do this before I started using msn live messenger. any help gratefully received...

WLM has a tendency to connect via GPRS rather than 3G. Since WnW is unlimited*, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
