Unlocking T-mobile dash

Hey everyone Competely new to this whole Smartphone thing. So trying to learn a little bit. I was interseted in putting game emus on my phone ( T-Mobile Dash). but everytime i go to a thread about getting the emu, it says i have to unlock it or something. I really don't understand what they mean by that. What am i unlocking? What excatly does it do? Could anyone help me out with this. THANK YOU.

They mean app unlock. It enables your device to run unsigned applications. Basically applications from developers who haven't paid Microsoft fees. I believe sda unlocker will work (google it).

Download and install AppUnlock fron Surreal Networks (http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/SDA%20applications/SurrealNetworksAppUnlock.cab). Once installed, turn the phone off then back on to complete the process. This app makes the two registry changes needed to install "unsigned" apps.

where do you install the cab at in the phone?
