Screen Scratched

Hi guys. I'm sad today because my beautiful vox now has some very annoying scratches on its screen. They dont seem to be very deep, but they are definately there. Does anyone know a good way to get rid of them without damaging the phone? I've heard of using toothpaste, but that was with CDs and I don't know if the same principle would apply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

G

PS If I get this fixed, I will never leave home again without a screen cover.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by putting a screencover on the screen. The scratch is still there, but no longer visible...

DISPLEX. You need to work at it, but it does peel off the top layers of the plastic to remove the scratches. I had some awful scratches on my S710, and I applied (4x) DISPLEX to the area, and the scratches are gone. What is replaced is a little "dip" in the screen because I only applied it to a small area where the scratches were. I think I need to buy another $10 tube and apply it to the entire screen area to remove the top layers of the plastic evenly across the entire screen.

But, even if I don't, the "dip" is only visible when the unit is off. When it's on, I no longer see any real visible distortion.

i had a couple of really unfortunate scratches right in the centre of the screen and a screen protector makes them completely unnoticeable - and i mean completely! i was amazed how it made them disappear! i got the generic 2.4" cover from Expansys - about 6 quid IIRC...

i tried some of the screen solution a few phones back and didn't rate it at all. made the whole polished area a bit 'flat' and when i tried to make the rest of the screen the same, it just went very slightly cloudy...

The worst place for a scratch is on the silver strip around the screen as no amount of polishing helps it only removes the silver :)

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll try a screen protector first and see if the scratches become unnoticable. If not, I'll take a look at displex. I'll mention my results here for future ref.

thanks again

EDIT: Screen protector seems to have done the trick, I only wish I had done it earlier.

Thanks for the update, I've got my screen protector on order now, hopefully that will work for me too.
