How to add custom sms sound?

Hi guys

How can I add custom sms sound so that it could be selected from options -> sounds?

Just add the sounds to folder application data/sounds/ and they will show up in the list ;)

I've only tried wma, mp3 and wav myself and they work fine for sms alerts... I'm not sure about AAC and MIDI since I haven't tried that yet!

also you can just add them to the Storage card or to My documents folder both on the device and storage card.

I pretty sure that only wav files work for SMS though

That's wrong. MP3 works without any problems as SMS Tone.

my WM5 device allows MP3 but MY old MPX 220 on WM2K3 would not it only allowed wav files for sms and MP3s for everything else ....you learn something new every day.

WMA works fine for sms aswell... At least on my HTC S710.
