ActiveSync keeps showing up in Task Manager

Like the title says, when I go to Task Manager on my Blackjack, ActiveSync is frequently present. The thing is, it's there whether I've synced or not. I'll have Task Manager stop all running programs, but a little while later ActiveSync will be back. What gives?
