extract files from cab files

Hi didn't know where to put this...

is it possible to get the files out of a cab fil just as if i installed it?

like extracting it... is it maybe enaugh to rename the files after extracting with winrar?

That is absolutely possible. On XP for instance, you may explore the CAB contents then copy the files to a desired folder. After which you can 'reconstruct' the file names based on _setup.xml instructions.

Another way to extract cab contents is via 3rd-party applications. An example of such program is MSCEInf. It can extract contents retaining the file names. MSCEInf is a freeware.
