Guest Duke Marquis Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 I currently have a PDA w/4" display while carrying a RAZR for a phone. Am interested in combining the two in the purchase of a Kaiser, however I am concerned ;) about the smaller 2.8" display. I currently make significant use of MSReader and ebooks as well as several versions of Holy Scripture. What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Guest Confucious Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Just checked MS Reader and , although MS have not updated it for a couple of years, it seams to run OK on my Athena running WM6 at non standard resolution and you can enlarge the font size if it's to small for you although you wont get as much on the screen. Same goes for Olive Tree bible reader although I have no idea which reader you are using for your scriptures (being an atheist I have not tried any others) check with the software supplier to see if it will work on WM6 and that you can change the font size and you should be OK. Other than that you should be OK. The Kaiser will be a lot biger than your RAZR and it takes a bit of getting used to a touch screen for a phone - some people don't like it, but for most the bennefits outweigh the disadvantages. If you are in the UK (you don't say where you are) get it on T-Mob if you get 3G reception then you can take advantage of their fast unlimited data. Your other option is to do what I did and go for the Athena - it's bigger but that's to accomodate a massive screen (and 8Gb HD!) Good luck.
Guest Duke Marquis Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Thanks! In fact I do use Olive Tree (you can't be that much of an athiest  ). I never even thought about compatibility - just screen size - so I appreciate that you checked it. I'm in the US and had T-Mobile but couldn't get reception in my own home ;) so I switched to Cingular. I very much like the idea of a massive screen but I don't know the "Athena" so I'll check into it. By the way, you indicated that the advantages of a touch screen phone outweight the disadvantages. I know what the latter is; what's the former? Duke, I use Olive Tree's BibleReader and MobiePocket a lot on my 2.8" display Cingular (HTC) 8125. I went from a PDA with 4" display and a cell phone to just the 8125 and I love it. I would definitly recogmend it. Stephen Johnson Software Engineer Olive Tree Bible Software
