Guest zachto_man Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 I am about to recieve - I hope - my first ppc in the form of a Kaiser. I thought it would be cool if in addition to all of the other stuff this thing can do I could run an ssh program to log in to the unix farms at work to check job status and other rot. This leads to some questions. I have found some programs that will do this for wm5 but apparently they have not been upgraded for wm6. What are the odds that they will work? Will I do my Kaiser any damage by installing them and they do not work? It sounds silly but it is an expensive beastie after all and I am new to this world. The programs I am contempating using are: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/aximsite-ne...-pocket-pc.html and http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-mobilevt.html Does anyone have experience of vnc for ppcs? I found this out there, also for wm5, as freeware: http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/pocket-pc/dow...5ssh1-2-14.html But these people claim wm5 and above but it is 19.95 USD http://zoomvnc.com/ Many thanks for any advice. Karlo
Guest PayableOnDeath Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Hi not used WM6 how ever i do use WM5 with SSH I use mToken - http://www.choung.net/mToken/ their site says it works for WM6 i think the WM5 programs will work on WM6, as most of the WM2003 programs work on WM5 they shouldn't break the device if you install them, most likely toy will get an error message when you try to run them if your a bit worried about any possible damage when you install them, then you could put them on as soon as you get the device and if it stops it from booting or something then do a hard reset which will wipe it all and make it as brand new, if you do when get it then you wont have lost any contacts or anything Regards
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 mToken is what I use and it's great, but not free of course. I like mToken because it includes SSH Tunneling features too ;) P

The suggestion above is certainly a good one and I will try to implement it. At least making backups of contacts and settings before doing to much installation experimentation. Cheers. Karlo
