Guest tetstb Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Has anyone else noticed that the UK flag has been removed from the www.samsungmobile.com/i600 page ? Does this mean that the UK version of the WM6 download is no longer available ?
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 According to Matt And Tracy it's because they're reworking the site, and doesn't mean there won't be one. According to various people the flags all point to the same place anyway, but that link (to the ROM) wasn't working for me yesterday
Guest colonel_butt Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 According to Matt And Tracy it's because they're reworking the site, and doesn't mean there won't be one. According to various people the flags all point to the same place anyway, but that link (to the ROM) wasn't working for me yesterday I spoke to Samsung support on the phone yesterday. They gave no guarantees but said that it is expected that the biggest flags, Germany, UK and France, would be up at some point. The reason they weren't up now was due to the fact that these countries have many providers who are offering the i600 in a branded form. Therefore Samsung either needs to have WM6 ready for all the brands as well, as this is proving a bit fiddly, combined with the fact that they want to block branded handsets from getting the generic ROM (although this may not be possible as the generic CD1 is already on release). The link to the Swedish ROM does work, but before you apply it, you need to change the location variable in the i600 to the Netherlands (a currently support country). This is documented on this forum and also in the 600/607 blow rom thread in xda-developers. However, although WM6 is faster (I have had other WM6 and WM5 devices) I am waiting for the official release. If it does not come in a few months I might consider a Netherlands update. Also note that you loose MS office with the current WM6 update, so you need to be prepared for this (either with hacked cab or alternative programs) rgds
